FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE SolarNest opens Texas factory, creating 400 jobs New Austin plant will make 1 million home battery units a year by 2028 |
AUSTIN, Texas, 8 October 2026 · SolarNest, the home energy storage company, today opened a $210 million battery factory in southeast Austin. The plant will employ 400 people by the end of 2027 and produce up to 1 million home battery units a year at full capacity.
400 New local jobs by 2027 | $210M Investment in the plant | 1M Battery units a year by 2028 |
The factory runs on rooftop solar and recycles 95% of its production waste. SolarNest has partnered with Austin Community College on a 12-week technician training program, with the first 60 graduates starting work in January.
"Texans told us they want power that stays on when the grid goes down," said Carmen Delgado, chief executive of SolarNest. "Building our batteries here means shorter wait times, lower prices and good jobs for the community that buys them."
"This is the kind of investment that keeps young people in Austin," said Marcus Webb, president of the Greater Austin Manufacturing Council. "The training partnership opens skilled careers to people without a four-year degree."
SolarNest home batteries are sold through 300 installers in 18 states. Orders from the Austin plant begin shipping in November 2026.
