Dear Mrs. Ashcroft,
I am delighted to apply for the Teacher of Science (Years 7 to 11) post at Ashworth Park Academy. I am a qualified teacher with six years of experience at Whitfield High School, and I share Ashworth Park's commitment to hands-on learning that every student can take part in.
In my current role I teach five classes of combined science and GCSE physics to Years 8 to 11. Last summer 78% of my Year 11 students achieved grade 5 or above in physics, up from 61% two years earlier. I also introduced a project-based unit on renewable energy, in which Year 9 students build and test small wind turbines, and it is now taught across the department.
My classroom is built on clear routines, practical work and quick, regular feedback. I adapt lessons for students with SEND and for those learning English as an additional language, and I keep parents in the loop with a short half-termly update. Outside the classroom I run the school's STEM club and mentor two early career teachers.
I would welcome the chance to bring this experience to Ashworth Park and to support your plans to grow triple science uptake. My CV and references are attached, and I would be happy to teach a lesson as part of the interview.
